SSE Dounreay West Substation – Global Infrastructure Ltd.
John Gunn & Sons Ltd. were appointed by Global Infrastructure Ltd. to undertake site enabling works as part of the new SSE Dounreay Substation. The new substation will form part of the Orkney-Caithness 220kV link project.
As part of the contract, Gunns is responsible for all cut and fill works up to platform level. This will include the following elements.
- Site Clearance works.
- Topsoil strip and excavation down to formation level.
- Cut and Fill works including rock breaking and crushing.
- Construction of Site Compounds
- Construction of Haul Roads
- Excavation and formation of SUDS Pond
- Access Road Bitmac Surfacing works
The project is currently ongoing with Gunns elements of the works due for completion later in 2025.
