Graduate Civil Engineer

Job Description

Your main responsibilities will include;

  • Assist senior engineer to prepare design drawings and come up with technical solutions for project.
  • Work alongside our engineering team assisting on a variety of works to make sure everything runs smoothly and on time.
  • Carry out site surveying and setting out works.
  • Assist in creating key documents including drawings and important health and safety (CDM) paperwork.
  • Undertake quality control checks to ensure work meets our high standards.
  • Track any changes on documents or that are encountered on the field and report to project manager on any issues that may affect project timings or cost.
  • Material take offs to assist project manager when ordering materials, and material logging on stie to ensure correct quantity of material has been delivered and is compliant.
  • Liaise with client and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals required to ensure works can proceed and there are minimal delays.
  • Liaise with community and education establishments to help with future recruitment and establish good community working relationships.

Requirements

  • A qualification (HNC, HND or degree) in civil engineering.
  • A full UK Driving license.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft software such as word, excel etc.
  • Someone who can work as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Good communications skills and able to build working relationships.
  • A general understanding of industry standards and best practices.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • CSCS Card.
  • Some entry level experience in civil engineering projects, perhaps a placement or internship.
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • CITB – Site supervisors training (for holiday cover)
  • Temporary works supervisor training.

Lab Technician / Assistant Quality Manager

Job Description

Your main responsibilities will include.

  • Assist quarry manager in managing checks and inspections, preparing schedules, reporting on material quantiles, testing requirements and mix designs.
  • Testing of all quarry materials including aggregates, concrete, asphalt and concrete blocks.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of all testing.
  • Work alongside our quarry team assisting in the production of all materials.
  • Undertake quality control checks to ensure work meets our high standards.
  • Track any changes on testing requirements, standards, and mix designs.
  • Liaise with client and stakeholders to obtain necessary documentation for managing material supply and ensure required reporting of results is passed onto them relevant to their requirements.
  • Conduct internal Quality audits and represent company on external audits to ensure continued renewal of ISO certification.

Requirements

  • A qualification in engineering or similar subject.
  • A full UK Driving license.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft software such as word, excel etc.
  • Someone who can work as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Good communications skills and able to build working relationships.
  • A general understanding of industry standards and best practices.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Some entry level experience in materials testing, quarry operations or engineering.
  • CSCS card or quarry passport.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of concrete and asphalt design and standards.

The applicant would require to undertake repairs and servicing on all types of Construction Machinery as well as repairs, MOTs and servicing on HGV Lorries and trailers.
